Privacy policy

OurLittleNames is provided by Sonic Systems, Inc., whose app-development brand is Sonic Built. This policy covers our baby-name service at ourlittlenames.com and the OurLittleNames Android app. For privacy questions and requests, email support@ourlittlenames.com.

Information used to run your family room

• Account and membership: your sign-in email, display name, family-room memberships, owner/member role, and account and room identifiers. A room owner can enter an invited participant’s email and display name. Only invite people who expect to participate.
• Name preferences: saved likes, passes, skips, selected name categories, custom names and spelling variants, and timestamps associated with activity. We use these records to save progress and find shared favorites.
• Technical and security information: requests to our service may include your IP address, browser or device information, requested URLs, timestamps and authentication/session information. These support hosting, sign-in, security and troubleshooting.
• Support: if you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you include in your message.

We use this information to provide the service, control access, maintain family rooms, answer requests and prevent misuse. We do not ask for a baby’s birth date, medical information, precise GPS location, contacts, photos or videos. Please do not put sensitive personal information into a display name, custom name or support message.

What other participants can see

Family-room owners manage the participant roster, including display names, email addresses and roles. Participants can see shared custom names and matches, including how many people liked a matching name. A match can reveal a preference, particularly in a small room. Family rooms are not public social profiles. Keep invitation, participant and owner links private.

Hosting, sign-in and device storage

Cloudflare provides hosting, database storage and email-code authentication. Its services process account and technical information to deliver and secure the app. Authentication uses cookies; browser session storage supports temporary Undo history and loading recovery. The Android app uses its WebView’s cookies and storage and keeps a local count of saved swipes. Clearing device storage does not delete server-side family-room records. Android advertising and privacy choices

The Android app includes Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform for advertising and consent choices. When advertising is enabled, Google’s SDK may process IP addresses (including approximate location derived from them), advertising/app identifiers, app and ad interactions, and performance or diagnostic information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. The information handled depends on consent, device settings and the available advertising mode.

Where a consent message is required, use its choices. The app’s Ad privacy control reopens privacy choices when Google requires that option. Android settings also let you manage your advertising ID. An ad-free family subscription suppresses ad requests while the app confirms that entitlement; it does not erase data previously processed by Google. We do not send family-room names, saved votes or sign-in email addresses as custom ad-targeting fields. Read Google’s privacy policy and Google’s advertising information.

Advertising and subscription availability depends on the app version and launch status. The browser-based name-voting service does not currently include AdMob ad scripts.

Google Play purchases

When subscriptions are available, Google Play processes checkout and payment information. Our app and service use purchase tokens, subscription status and expiry, a family-room identifier, and an email-derived opaque purchaser identifier to verify purchases, restore access and provide the family’s ad-free entitlement. We do not receive your payment-card details. Google maintains its own account and transaction records under its policies. Deleting OurLittleNames data does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription.

Who processes or receives information

In addition to the family-room visibility described above, Cloudflare processes hosting, storage, authentication and email-routing information; Google processes advertising, consent and purchase information when those features are used; and our email provider, Microsoft, processes support correspondence. We may disclose information when necessary to meet a legal obligation, protect the service or address fraud and abuse. Providers may process information in countries other than yours. Their privacy notices explain their own practices.

We do not sell family-room membership or name-preference records. Advertising providers’ processing, where enabled, is described separately above; this policy does not characterize all advertising processing as “no sharing.”

Retention and deletion

We keep account, membership and preference records while they are needed to provide your rooms and saved progress. There is no automatic deletion simply because you stop using the service or uninstall the app. You can request deletion at any time using the account-deletion page, without reinstalling the app or paying a fee.

After verifying your request, we remove the applicable account memberships, personal profile information, saved vote state and custom names you authored from the active service. Shared-room ownership and remaining subscription access need to be resolved without deleting other members’ accounts. Cancellation of future subscription renewal is managed in Google Play.

Deletion from active records may not immediately remove older copies in database recovery history, restricted backups, security logs or provider systems. Those copies are retained for recovery, security or applicable legal obligations rather than ordinary app use. Support reviews those records as part of the request and explains any information retained, the reason and applicable retention period. Records needed for a purchase dispute, accounting or legal obligation may be retained for that purpose. Google’s independent advertising, account and transaction records are governed by Google’s policies and controls.

Support messages are kept as needed to resolve the inquiry, document its handling and meet applicable obligations. We do not promise instant automated deletion; requests are handled through support. We may ask for enough information to confirm ownership, but never ask for your password or sign-in code.

Your choices and requests

You can change saved preferences in the app and ask support about access, correction or deletion of your personal information. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply. Contact support@ourlittlenames.com with your request or a question about retention or advertising choices. Please avoid sending payment-card details, passwords or login codes.

Children

OurLittleNames is a name-selection tool for people planning and discussing names, not a service designed for children to create profiles. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate and handle deletion as appropriate.

Contact and policy changes

We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate through the app or website.
